Dallas Youth Spotlight
What is the DYS?
The Dallas Youth Spotlight was an initiative started to recognize the hard work and dedication of Dallas teens around the city. We felt that there was a lack of recognition when it came to "shouting out" the things that youth had worked so hard to accomplish - especially when there were thousands of us. Whether it was through academics, sports, or community service, the 'Spotlight Event' displayed some of the most accomplished teens in the City of Dallas.
Each district had the right to nominate up to 5 students for the award, and they could be in any grade level. These students, either recommended by their schools or by fellow Youth Commissioners, were to be recognized city-wide with an award dedicated by the Mayor and their respective City Council representatives. This award was presented at a luncheon hosted at City Hall, where the students got to meet their Youth Commission representatives and council members.

Can I nominate someone to be recognized?
The simple answer is: Yes! If you believe that a classmate, friend, or family member should be recognized for this award, feel free to nominate them below. We are looking for anybody who may have had a meaningful impact on people around them, or even on their community as a whole. There are only two requirements: the student must be in 9th-12th grade and they must go to a school in Dallas. These nominations are to be taken seriously, so think carefully about whom you nominate to be spotlighted.
