As we all know, an unprecedented global pandemic has caused massive changes in our daily lives. Movie theaters, restaurants, and even schools shut down, forcing us to adapt to keep ourselves from becoming stagnant. And now, at last, the societal quarantine is over. However, just because the quarantine has officially ended doesn't mean the virus is gone. This is why it's important to continue to practice social distancing.
Social distancing is exactly what it sounds like; staying away from other people. A great way to practice social distancing is instead of meeting someone face-to-face, schedule a Zoom meeting. Instead of shaking someone’s hand, wave at them from six feet away. It is also important to avoid gatherings of numerous people, as this can greatly contribute to the spread of the virus.
Social distancing only works if everyone makes their best efforts to stay healthy. The multiplier effect, a system that explains how an increased number of infected people make the virus spread much faster, will begin to express itself if people become careless with their social distancing.
Doing your part to stop the spread of COVID-19 can save many people from becoming infected, which is why we all need social distancing.
